Batavus
More then hundred years ago (1904), Andries Gaastra started selling bikes with the name "Batavus". Since that time, the company and the brand name have grown to a famous and well established brand in the Netherlands. Batavus is the bike manufacturer when it comes to combining comfort, safety and design and by doing so it still distinguishes itself from other brands. Batavus always takes care of the best cycling experience by continuous innovation, and one of the latest innovations is the Batavus BUB.
The BUB (Batavus Utility Bike)
The BUB is a trendy, all round city bike that was only recently introduced in the Netherlands and by which Batavus has won the IF Gold Award 2010 for product design. Curious to see what the BUB looks like, check out

Besides the prominent design, also comfort, safety and quality are maintained at the highest standards. But besides these aspects, the BUB distinguishes itself from other bikes because of the personalizing possibilities you have, to make it absolutely your bank and complete your cycling experience.
Last year, the BUB has made the news in several ways. Batavus cooperated with Radio 538, a special World Championships BUB was made and Batavus developed a special KiKa BUb together with KiKa (a Dutch charity that helps children with cancer).
Starting today, your help is needed.
Objective
Make a design or movie for Batavus in which you position the BUB as a trendy, all round city bike, which is suited for everybody because of the personalizing possibilities. Do this by using the corporate Batavus logo and if possible by using the accessible image or movie material by Batavus. Keep the aspects of convenience, comfort, safety and reliability in mind and try to express them in your Ad. You can think of a creative and innovative Ad in which you express the modern design of the BUB without forgetting the safety and comfort elements. You can of course also use the rich history of Batavus, the on a paper clip based design, the inventive aspects of Batavus or the making of high quality bikes. The corporate logo of Batavus and other items can be found by clicking the button 'files'.
The winning designs will be shown on the corporate website and on the online communities of Batavus to further enhance the (online) awareness for the campaign.

Prizes
The three best submissions, as chosen by Batavus, will win the following:
Company prize 1: € 1.000,- + 1 BUB (worth € 499,-)
Company prize 2: € 500,- + 1 BUB (worth € 499,-)
Company prize 3: 1 BUB (worth € 499,-)
The three best submissions that receive the most points out of votes will win the following:
Community prize 1: € 500,- + 1 BUB (worth € 499,-)
Community prize 2: € 250,- + 1 BUB (worth € 499,-)
Community prize 3: 1 BUB (worth € 499,-)
Total value of prizes: € 5250,-
Important! (pointing system)
During this competition, we will start with a different pointing system on CreatAd. Getting that many points that other users will never be able to catch up will not guarantee you will ultimately become the winner of one of the community prizes. The 8 contestants that get the most points will proceed to the judgment of the jury. The jury will create a top 3 out of these 8 Ads and those three will ultimately win the community prizes.
To be brief: a huge amount of points will not automatically make you the winner of a community prize! On the other hand, still make sure you spread your Ad well; otherwise you can never make it to the final eight.

Design
What kind of design you would like to make is fully up to you. You can send in print Ads, but also movies. We only ask you to make sure your design is full of creativity, fully original and that you express the Batavus BUB in the most creative and innovative way possible!
Deadline
Your Ad must be uploaded before January 15. After this date, you can still gather votes until January 21. Make sure you are on time with uploading your design to gather as many votes as possible. Spread your Ad through Hyves, Facebook and Twitter with our integrated tools to promote your Ad more and further boos the Batavus campaign! As always, you can find these tools under the '+' symbol within our video player.
Winners
On January 28, the winners will be announced under the button 'winners' on the platform through the CreatAd newsletter and on the CreatAd blog (

Conditions
Corporate design
Batavus is a well known brand with an appealing corporate design. It is very important you do not make an Ad that differs from this design. The most important rules:
- Batavus is innovative and appealing, try to express that in your Ad
- Use the corporate logo in it's original shape and don't adjust it
- The corporate name 'Batavus' and corporate logo are always connected and may never be used seperately
- If possible, place the corporate logo in a corner of your Ad
- Use the colors red (RGB: 193,0,42) and black (RGB: 0,0,0)
- If you use text, please stick to the typography and use the fonts Arial and Georgia (regular)
General
- Always stick to the rules of the corporate design
- Stick to the briefing in general
- Guerilla Ads are allowed, but stay positive and do not compare Batavus to other brands in a negative way
